At the entrance to the untouched natural Pfitsch Valley lie Wiesen and Flains. Here you can relax nicely and go for good walks. A Kneipp facility in the community park of Wiesen promotes good circulation, and you'll also find a mini-golf course and a large children's playground there. The Pfitsch Valley is one of the most original valleys in South Tyrol. Just under 10 minutes by car from Sterzing you reach the hamlet of Afens at the entrance to the high valley. Right behind it, an idyllic mountain world opens up with an overwhelming panoramic view. The towering peaks of the Zillertal Alps, with the majestic Hochfeiler (3,510 m), delight climbers and hikers alike. Varied hiking options, from Nordic walking to valley and high-altitude trails and demanding summit tours, mean mountain enthusiasts get their money's worth here.

The mountain world of the Pflersch Valley reveals itself unspoiled, with a wide variety of hiking and touring options ranging from an easy stroll to a high-altitude trail. The lift facilities go up to 2,000 m. The Tribulaun and the Pflersch high-altitude trail attract climbing and mountain enthusiasts. Nearby is the so-called "Pferscher Hölle" (Pflersch Hell), a 46-meter waterfall that is a protected natural monument. In winter the area is a little eldorado for winter-sports lovers. The Ladurns ski area is family-friendly, reliably snow-covered, and cozy.
Rosskopf Leisure Mountain near Sterzing
From the town center it's just a few steps to the valley station of the Rosskopf leisure mountain, Sterzing's local mountain. Hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and paragliders find a magnificent landscape and an impressive 360° panoramic view on the 2,000-meter-high plateau. Throughout the summer, the family-friendly hiking area hosts countless varied events. Equally surprising is the mountain gastronomy, with unique culinary delights from traditional cookbooks. Whether classic dumplings, "Bockenes," or hearty "Rahmus" — these dishes can only be found at Rosskopf. And the nearby alpine pastures of Vallming, the Ochsenalm, or the Kuhalm offer traditional, handmade gray cheese, fresh butter, and warm milk straight from the cow. The panoramic view from the new viewing platform at Rosskopf Köpfl all the way to the Dolomites will delight you. For our young and old animal lovers alike, there's also the petting zoo "Rossi-Park," with llamas, ponies, goats, and much more.
